Howard and the Girls

The Alpacas are doing it a bit hard up here, due to the fact that we have dingoes that think alpaca meat is very nice. So they have to be locked up in a yard every night.
Also added to the menagerie are the White Sussex Hens and a White Sussex Rooster
called Howard, because he came from a town called Howard, north of here.
When I decided to move up here, I considered how many acres I would need, and thought about 40 would do the job. I ended up with 50 acres. I didn’t really consider the rate the grass grows around here being sub-tropical. So 10 horses and 13 Alpacas just couldn’t keep it at a reasonable level. So decided to buy 9 Hereford cows. They had calves by AI in 2002, and in 2003 young Trav was bought, a 16 month old Hereford bull from Traveston.
